Alison Cornett, CT
I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Student at Wright State University completing my Practicum with Momentum Counseling. I am actively working toward gaining more knowledge on how to be a compassionate, considerate, and person-centered counselor with the help of supervision. I believe counseling is a collaborative process, and I strive to create a warm, safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment for all individuals so they feel heard, respected, and supported.
I use trauma-informed, person-centered approaches with each of my clients, as I understand each individual brings their own experiences, traits, and perspectives to counseling. With this in mind, I am still figuring out the best approach for my future clients and me. With prior experiences in an inpatient psychiatric setting and working within the court system, I have been exposed to many different populations and am interested in continuing to learn about all populations.
As a counselor, I view every client interaction as an opportunity to learn, grow, and deepen my understanding of the counseling profession. I am committed to practicing with humility, curiosity, empathy, and respect, and I value the trust clients place in me as they share their stories.
