Shauntel Whitfield-Ashford, LSW practicing at the Sidney Location

In my many years in the mental health field, it has never been lost on me the courage it takes to open up, share one’s innermost feelings, and begin the path toward healing– and I feel great gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of each individual’s journey. I believe you are the expert in “you” and my role as your therapist is to take your expertise and blend it with my own, to offer new perspectives, strategies, and information that empower you in building a happier, healthier, and fuller life.
I am a Licensed Social Worker with training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, motivational interviewing and more. I enjoy working with individuals 14 and older with a variety of needs, such as: anxiety, depression, trauma, coming of age concerns, and managing difficult family and relationship dynamics. I take an eclectic approach to therapy, as I know each person is different and I find it essential to adapt to meet each individual’s needs. I have a special affinity for practicing and teaching mindfulness skills. I believe peace of mind is the most valuable thing one can have and I look forward to the opportunity to help you discover yours.
